Ideas don't work unless you do. (yesterday)

Larger then Life

Ron Mueck is an Australian hyperrealist sculptor working in Great Britain. He was as a model maker and puppeteer for children’s television and films, notably the film Labyrinth and the Jim Henson series The Storyteller.

His work is stunning, and captivating. My wife and I saw a piece at ArtBasel Miami and we couldn’t keep from looking back at it as we moved on to another piece.

Don’t miss these studio images of how its done.

Books on shirts. Shirts on a mission.

Out of Print features iconic and often out of print classic book covers. Each shirt is treated to feel soft and worn like a well-read book. Don’t worry, they work closely with artists, authors and publishers to license the content that ends up in their shirts.

As if that wasn’t enough, besides spreading the joy of reading they acknowledge that many parts of the world don’t have access to books at all. For each shirt they sell, one book is donated to a community in need through with their partner Books For Africa.

Creating life with shadows

City View, 2003

Amazing work by Kumi Yamashita. She works with type and other objects to create shadows that seem like they have a life of their own. Her artwork gives life to inanimate objects and can sometimes be extremely haunting.  Please visit her website to see more amazing artwork http://kumiyamashita.com/ (via abuzeedo)

New “Friends With You” Website is delicious

FriendsWithYou creates magical portals into strange new worlds, and are on a mission to spread the idea of Magic, Luck, and Friendship.™ Their new site, incorporates all their mediums and brands which is very impressive. I admire not only the whimsical and playful concepts, but their plethora of one-of-a-kind objects in a wide range of mediums. Their artwork, commercial products, and installations despite their simplicity are meticulously crafted and engineered. Don’t waste any more time, they want to be Friends-With-You!
